About the Artist

"Don't be like the rest of them, darling." - Coco Chanel

I began drawing at age 3 and discovered my signature style while in high school. I hold a BA in Illustration and an MA in New Media Studies. Residing in the Chicagoland area I make my living as a marketing executive in the financial industry. I'm a former university professor and freelance from time to time, but it is drawing on my own terms that I live for. That is when I experience the addictive out of body flow that feels like a form of time travel.

Consistent in my mixed use of pen and ink, airbrush, marker, graphite, acrylic, and color pencil, I prefer working on hot press illustration board and consciously create compositions with positive and negative space in mind.

A common theme in my work is the movement of natural elements and the connections between decadent textures, mythologies, social mores, gothic visions, and industrial inventions. I seek to ignite the 'what if’s' that result from splicing these ideas and often present them from a feminist perspective.

Through my work I perpetually hunt for meaning, spiritual guidance, and purpose in my personal struggle with existential anxiety. Each drawing is an individualized attempt to feel around for the proverbial light switch in the dark. And I hope my efforts will remain to inspire others after I've checked out.

Because I'm not a starving artist, net proceeds from my art sales are put into action as micro-loans for modest women entrepreneurs around the globe through Kiva.org.

Gifts are meant to be shared.
