(2002)

I spent the good part of nine months gestating Ophelia . While on a Carribbean cruise in 2001, my husband and I spent an evening in our finest, drinking scotch and smoking cigars in a dimly lit piano lounge, on a night when the sea was particularly rough. The tumblers were sliding from side to side across the table at an alarming rate while we listened to a very talented lady calmly play "Moonlight Sonata". Moved by the inspiring little moment of serenity among big chaotic waves I had to create a permanent record of that feeling and so Ophelia was born. The vibrant colors and hidden faces among the rocks are illuminated by the very abrupt transition of evening into night. One of my all-time favorite pieces, I chose to give a little extra size to this photograph to showcase the details.
