(2014) Originally I had it in my mind to create Godiva on her horse, but then I decided it would be much more interesting to remove both God and diva (i.e. man) from the equation.

This piece merges metals of medieval armor and chainmail with rusted gears reminiscent of the Industrial Revolution atop an oily linen-like background. It includes my own personal homage to an ancestor who was an indentured servant to an ironworks in the 16th century. In steampunk fashion this horselike being emerged pulling in with it some Lovecraftian elements.

“Would anyone remember the story of Godiva if she lowered Coventry's taxes without taking her clothes off?"― Daniel Donoghue, Lady Godiva: A Literary History of the Legend
