(2019) "Pied Piper" (20" x 20") is the 7th piece in my German Fairytale Series. I wanted to focus on movement and play up the piper as a harbinger of death. Many people are familiar with this story of a stranger -- a colorful piper -- who rids a town of rats, is denied payment, and takes the town's children as revenge, but few know that it may be tied to an actual mysterious occurrence that took place in Hamelin, Germany in (circa) 1284. The circumstances are vague, but nevertheless chilling to contemplate what could have possibly gone wrong.
Perhaps the moral of this story is: Always pay your debts.
