(2016) I was inspired by a piece of sculptural art that I saw in the Roosevelt Hotel while in New Orleans in 2015. I wanted to create something both architectural and organic with beautiful movement and interesting negative space. The sub-layer of "interesting" is that an organic entity like a human body assigns value to an inorganic object like a tourniquet, giving it a "job", while the tourniquet, in turn, preserves the life of the organic. An imagined symbiotic relationship between that which is living and that which isn't.
